Investment Funds

Collective investment funds, such as those offered by many life assurance and fund management companies, are one of easiest and most efficient ways to access the stock market.

An investment fund is simply a pool of investors' money, in which each individual investor is allocated units. These units represent the share of the pool owned by the investor. Quite simply this enables the individual investor to invest in a much wider range of investments and to employ a professional investment manager to manage their money.

Investment fund managers invest the money coming into their funds from private and institutional investors. They use it to buy shares in domestic and international companies, government and corporate bonds, and quite often property and cash type investments. Exactly what the managers decide to buy depends on the investment criteria of the specific investment fund (there is a wide range on offer) and their view of the best opportunities. With the muscle of millions of euros under their control, they have the advantage of being able to negotiate keen prices and competitive levels of commission. NCB has access to a broad range of investment managers and fund choices to complement and build your investment portfolio.
